Join us in the community room for games (Xbox, Oculus, Roblox, etc), activities, music, and snacks! On the third Thursday of each month, watch for something special: possibly cooking, maybe international snacks - who knows?!

The Durango Arts Center presents youth theater camps for children in kindergarten through second grade, Thursdays from 4 to 5pm, March 26th through May 14th.

Students will learn character creation, imaginative storytelling, music, and movement.

Spanish Conversation Hour at Sunnyside Library. A casual gathering to develop Spanish conversational skills. All levels of ability are welcome.

The La Plata Quilters Guild will meet on Thursday, April 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension Building . The Business meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and a Zoom program featuring National Quilt Judge Allison Rainboth at approximately 6:40 p.m. Refreshments will be available, and members will be sharing in show and tell as time permits. Non-members are welcome to attend.

The program title is: “Through the judge’s Eyes”

Allison Rainboth, Owner of Sisters Choice Quiltiing Service in Berlin, WI has been longarm quilting since 2003, and completed more than 3,000 pieces before retiring from quilting for others. She has a strong interest in quilt history. Allison is a certified Quilt Judge and is also the administrator of the American Quilters Society Appraiser Certification Program.

Allison has judged quilt shows of all levels nationwide, and in 2023, had the opportunity to travel to Kuwait to judge for the Kuwait textile Arts Association national exhibition. She believers all entrants benefit from the judging process and works hard to provide useful feedback. Judging is a privilege, and Allison is grateful for opportunities to see so much beautiful work.

The Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking, in collaboration with the League of Women Voters of La Plata County and the Fort Lewis College Sociology Club, will provide a training on how human trafficking is impacting Colorado and our region. The training will cover the laws, the local resources, the root causes, the intersectionality, and the social and systemic inequalities that can lead to trafficking. Free music every Thursday at Uncle’s Bar and Social Club. Pagosa’s newest bar and best local gathering place. House band Connie the Soldier and musicians welcome for an open jam. Folk, Americana, and Celtic music.

The San Juan College School of business and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program will provide free income tax preparation to the community Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, through April 13th. More information and appointments are available at 505-566-3314 and at 970-553-9150.

The Ignacio Community Church's Clothing Closet will provide free clothing, jackets and shoes to the needy every Tuesday and Friday from 10 until 2 at the ELHI Community Center.

Maria’s Literary Foundation's Second Annual Read-a-Thon Fundraiser takes place from April 10th through 20th. Details and sign up are available at mariasbookshop.com.

During the Read-a-Thon, volunteer readers sit and read in the front window of Maria’s Bookshop to raise money for the Literary Foundation’s Reading Room.

• Readers log their time read over the course of the Read-a-Thon, including their window shift.
• Readers are encouraged to secure ‘sponsorships’ to raise money for The Reading Room.
• Donors may sponsor individual readers or donate in support of all readers
• Maria’s Bookshop will match all donations
• Special prizes (a Year of Books!) for our biggest fundraisers and top

Funds from the Maria’s Literary Foundation Read-a-Thon will support:
• The Reading Room (our FREE youth bookshop and reading nook)-- stocking it with great books for kids in Durango and hosting free programming there like writing workshops, book clubs, and more.

Baby Time is tailored for babies from birth-12 months together with their favorite adult!

Enjoy 15-20 minutes of early literacy activities followed by a playgroup. We sing songs, bounce to action rhymes, and share stories, providing a rich environment for babies to hear language and interact with others.
