Hollywood Huckfest returns to Purgatory Resort on March 21 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
This slopestyle-freeride competition takes place on the expert terrain of Catharsis run, featuring kickers above cliff faces. The event is open to skiers and snowboarders ages 10 and older. Each athlete receives two judged runs and will be scored on air, tricks, cleanness of landings, and overall riding ability.
The day begins with check-in and a mandatory athlete meeting at Hoody’s, followed by venue inspection and competition runs by age division. Awards will be presented at 4:00 PM on the Hoody’s Deck.
The event is organized by Durango Winter Sports Club and supported by Homeslice Pizza, Pit Viper Sunglasses, Pine Needle Mountaineering, and Coffee Bear Silverton.

Spring skiing hits its peak on April 5 at Purgatory Resort with the annual Pond Skim, the highlight of the day, along with two on-mountain parties featuring High West and Aperol.
Pond Skim | 12:30–3 p.m. | Ski BeachWatch skiers and riders attempt to skim across the pond in costume for style points, bragging rights and prizes. Space is limited to the first 100 participants.
Sign-ups begin at 9:30 a.m. the day of the event at the Ticket Office (will call desk).• $20 entry fee• Must be at least 12 years old• Signed waiver required (parent/guardian must sign for participants under 18)

The Durango Running Club will host the inaugural Earth Day 5K run on Saturday, April 18th at 8:30 AM at Rotary Park in Durango. This event is a fun run/walk format, and there will be no timing or prizes.All proceeds will go to benefit the non-profit Compañeros, the only organization in the region with its primary focus on serving immigrants.
Durango's Earth Day Celebration will follow the run. Events include a Main Avenue parade at 10:30, as well as a festival in Buckley Park from 11 to 3.
Runners and walkers will go north on the Animas River Trail from Rotary Park, and will run or walk 1.55 miles north to just before 32nd Street. Participants will then turn around and finish at Rotary park. Please note this will be a Zero Waste event. Participants are encouraged to carry their own water.

The 26th Annual Alien Run Mountain Bike Race takes place at 8AM on Saturday, May 2nd. Early bird registration for this family friendly event ends on Tuesday, March 31st.Details are at alienrun.com.
We have distances for everyone and youth categories. The race will be followed by a party and awards ceremony at 550 Brewing. Each racer gets a free meal and drink ticket. Aztec Trails and Open Space the only human (and horse) powered trail group in Aztec.
