The Early Childhood Council of La Plata County and the Durango Public Library invite parents,caregivers, and their preschoolers to a free six-part workshop series focused onpreparing young children for kindergarten. Each session will explore important areas ofschool readiness, with hands-on activities that build early literacy, math, motor, andsocial-emotional skills.
Join us at Bread Downtown for a "nontraditional" book club, where the discussion is basedon a genre/topic rather than a specific book. There's no required reading for these"nontraditional" book clubs, just a topic/genre to discuss and plenty of delicious snacksto enjoy! This month we'll be chatting about scary, frightful, and creepy books incelebration of spooky season. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

The San Juan County Historical Society presents a talk on the importance of Turquoise among the Navajo and Pueblo people of the southwest. The event takes place at 6PM on Wednesday, October 22nd at the Farmington Civic Center.
This presentation will take you on a journey from the ancient Egyptian royalty to the cultures of the Aztec empire and to the doorstep of the Navajo matriarchs who wear it perpetually.
