Alternative Horizons supports and empowers survivors of domestic violence - and they need volunteer advocates, including those who are bi-lingual, to staff their 24-Hour hotline. The next training dates are April 19th and 20th. Ongoing support is provided and more information is at 970-247-4374.

The Pagosa Environmental Film Festival takes place on Friday and Saturday at the Tennyson Event Center and will feature nine first-run films. The Friday Premiere Gala includes a catered gourmet dinner, live music with Steve Blechschmidt, a photography display and two award-winning films. Saturday's screenings start at 10AM. Tickets will be available at the door and online at pagosagreen.org.Proceeds benefit the Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership, a nonprofit that manages greenhouses, gardens, and educational activities on the River Walk in downtown Pagosa Springs.
Premiere Gala wristbands allow guest into all films on Saturday. "Flyways: The Untold Story of Migratory Birds" won Best of Fest at Colorado Environmental Film Festival. "Flyways" explores the effects of climate change on Earth's bird populations. "The Covenant of the Salmon People," Best Feature, describes the relationship between the indigenous Nez Pearce people and the Snake River's endangered salmon.

Chimney Rock Interpretive Association is offering an in-depth volunteer training program on Friday, April 26th from 9am until 2pm at the Methodist Church in Pagosa Springs. Training continues on Saturday at Chimney Rock National Monument from 9 to noon. In addition, volunteers will receive on-the-job training.
The Durango Wine Experience Walkabout takes place on Friday, April 26th, followed by the Grand Tasting on Saturday. The event is a fundraiser for the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado. The Grand Tasting features hundreds of wines, Colorado spirits and beer along with Durango's finest restaurants showcasing their varied cuisine. The Stampede Trail Run annual fundraiser for Durango Public Schools takes place at 9AM on Saturday, April 27th at the Horse Gulch Trailhead.Participants may choose from a 10 mile, 10k, 5k, and 1 mile fun run.
This year, all proceeds will go to the Park Elementary PTO.
The event also features a post race raffle, with items from many local businesses.
The Durango Devo 15th Annual Bike Swap takes place on Saturday, April 27th at the Chapman Hill Ice Rink. Bike and gear drop-off takes place on Friday. Durangodevo.com has all the details. All proceeds support their all-ages, team-based mountain biking programs, camps, and scholarships.
