The public is invited to the Durango Bird Club Wednesday Bird Walks, every week, starting at 8AM on April 1st and running through September 30th.Those interested may meet at the painted wall in the Botanic Gardens in front of the Durango Public Library.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of our local birds. These guided walks are free, and beginners and experienced birders are welcome to join. Please bring your own binoculars.

The Duranglers' Fly Fishing Festival will kick off at 5:30 on Thursday, April 2nd at the Animas City Theatre, with a the Fly Fishing Film Tour, which has already been touring the country to rave reviews. More information is at fiveriverstu.org.
In addition, we're partnering with Casting for Recovery, celebrating their 30th year of free fly fishing retreats to women surviving breast cancer.

The community conversation "Our Power, Our Future: What Does Energy Independence and Clean Energy Mean for SW Colorado?" takes place at the Powerhouse in Durango from 5:30 to 7PM on Tuesday, April 7th.Panelists include leaders with firsthand experience navigating energy transitions at every level and the event will be moderated by Elizabeth Philbrick. A Question & Answer session will follow.

The Durango Public Library will host a Climate Support Group on the 2nd Monday of each month at 4:30PM. The public is invited to share thoughts and feelings about the climate crisis in community.
Climate Support Groups are not action oriented, Rather, they're an opportunity to build an ecosystem of community, to cultivate resilience, and to continue to meet the unknown future from a place of connection - to self, community, and earth. All are welcome.
Hannah Smith holds a Masters in Social Work as well as an Advanced Certificate in Ecotherapy. She is a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance and is passionate about turning towards the ecology crisis from a place of embodied connection with the more-than-human world.

The Durango Running Club will host the inaugural Earth Day 5K run on Saturday, April 18th at 8:30 AM at Rotary Park in Durango. This event is a fun run/walk format, and there will be no timing or prizes.All proceeds will go to benefit the non-profit Compañeros, the only organization in the region with its primary focus on serving immigrants.
Durango's Earth Day Celebration will follow the run. Events include a Main Avenue parade at 10:30, as well as a festival in Buckley Park from 11 to 3.
Runners and walkers will go north on the Animas River Trail from Rotary Park, and will run or walk 1.55 miles north to just before 32nd Street. Participants will then turn around and finish at Rotary park. Please note this will be a Zero Waste event. Participants are encouraged to carry their own water.

The public is invited to a Durango Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 18th. The Procession of the Species parade starts at 10:30 on Main Avenue, and the Celebration starts at 11AM at Buckley Park, featuring live music from Afrobeatniks, vendors, kids activities, workshops and more.
