The talk "A Conscious and Loving Approach to Death and Dying" will take place at the Durango Public Library at 2PM on Saturday, April 20th.Local end-of-life doulas will lead a conversation on planning for a peaceful and meaningful death.
The Pagosa Environmental Film Festival takes place on Friday and Saturday at the Tennyson Event Center and will feature nine first-run films. The Friday Premiere Gala includes a catered gourmet dinner, live music with Steve Blechschmidt, a photography display and two award-winning films. Saturday's screenings start at 10AM. Tickets will be available at the door and online at pagosagreen.org.Proceeds benefit the Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership, a nonprofit that manages greenhouses, gardens, and educational activities on the River Walk in downtown Pagosa Springs.
Premiere Gala wristbands allow guest into all films on Saturday. "Flyways: The Untold Story of Migratory Birds" won Best of Fest at Colorado Environmental Film Festival. "Flyways" explores the effects of climate change on Earth's bird populations. "The Covenant of the Salmon People," Best Feature, describes the relationship between the indigenous Nez Pearce people and the Snake River's endangered salmon.

The Farmington Museum will host a WILDERNESS FIRST AID COURSE & CERTIFICATION CLASS on April 20th & 21st from 8 to 5. Prepare for the unexpected with this engaging, hands-on introduction to wilderness medicine at the Farmington Museum (3041 E Main St). Including the Patient Assessment System, how to provide effective first aid treatments for injuries and illnesses common in the outdoors, and how to make appropriate evacuation decisions. The Bonnie Dallas Senior Center in Farmington presents the High Desert Games Senior Olympics. Registration opens Monday, February 12th and the games run March 15th through May 31st. The Games are open to those 50 years and up - and will feature table tennis, darts, bocce ball, and field day... to shuffleboard, pickleball, chess, and more. The Southwest Organization for Sustainability presents an Earth Day Celebration on Sunday, April 21st at Centennial Park in Pagosa Springs. The hours are 9 to 3 and events will include live music, kids activities, a visit by representatives of the Wolfwood Refuge, a used clothing swap and more. Details are at sospagosa.org.
The Durango Tool Library will host a "Repair Cafe" from 10 until 2 on Sunday, April 21st. This is a free event featuring crew of volunteers to help diagnose and fix broken things such as: wobbly chairs, tattered shirts, shattered phone screens, malfunctioning bicycles, and more. and there will also be coffee and drink vendors on site. Volunteers will help you troubleshoot your broken thing, and provide a prescription for how it can be repaired. When possible, volunteers will help you make on-site, real-time repairs—and send you home with a fixed thing. For other repairs, like those that require specialized replacement parts, the prescription will guide you through what's needed to repair the item.
@Kiddos and doggos: Bring your sick and wounded stuffed animals to the Stuffed Animal Hospital. Volunteers will be ready to give your stuffed animal special care, like replacing missing stuffing and patching any holes, so you can keep playing with your stuffie.
