The Durango Public Library Book Club will meet at 6PM on Tuesday, April 7th to discuss "Soil: The Story of a Black Mother's Garden."Registration is available at the reference desk. A free copy of the book is available for the first 15 people who register.
In Soil: The Story of a Black Mother's Garden, poet and scholar Camille T. Dungy recounts the seven-year odyssey to diversify her garden in the predominately white community of Fort Collins, Colorado. When she moved there in 2013 with her husband and daughter, the community held strict restrictions about what residents could and could not plant.

The Pine River Library invites the public to their monthly "Bookmarks" Book Discussion group on the second Wednesday of each month at 2PM. The April selection is: "The Book of Hope" by Jane Goodall and in May: "One of Us is Lying," by Karen McManus. Details are at prlibrary.org.

Maria’s Literary Foundation's Second Annual Read-a-Thon Fundraiser takes place from April 10th through 20th. Details and sign up are available at mariasbookshop.com.
During the Read-a-Thon, volunteer readers sit and read in the front window of Maria’s Bookshop to raise money for the Literary Foundation’s Reading Room.
• Readers log their time read over the course of the Read-a-Thon, including their window shift.• Readers are encouraged to secure ‘sponsorships’ to raise money for The Reading Room.• Donors may sponsor individual readers or donate in support of all readers• Maria’s Bookshop will match all donations• Special prizes (a Year of Books!) for our biggest fundraisers and top
Funds from the Maria’s Literary Foundation Read-a-Thon will support:• The Reading Room (our FREE youth bookshop and reading nook)-- stocking it with great books for kids in Durango and hosting free programming there like writing workshops, book clubs, and more.
Baby Time is tailored for babies from birth-12 months together with their favorite adult!
Enjoy 15-20 minutes of early literacy activities followed by a playgroup. We sing songs, bounce to action rhymes, and share stories, providing a rich environment for babies to hear language and interact with others.
