The 26th Annual Alien Run Mountain Bike Race takes place at 8AM on Saturday, May 2nd. Early bird registration for this family friendly event ends on Tuesday, March 31st.Details are at alienrun.com.
We have distances for everyone and youth categories. The race will be followed by a party and awards ceremony at 550 Brewing. Each racer gets a free meal and drink ticket. Aztec Trails and Open Space the only human (and horse) powered trail group in Aztec.

The 17th Annual Dandelion Festival takes place in Durango's Rotary Park on Saturday, May 2nd from 1 to 7PM. This family friendly music and arts festival honors the spring season, community health and organic land stewardship... and will feature live music, dance performances, local food, arts and crafts vendors, and more.Details are at dandelionfestivaldurango.org.
The Aztec Museum & Pioneer Village kicks off its 62nd season at 2PM on Saturday, May 2nd, with a new exhibit, "Unspun Tales: Sheep in San Juan County." This free event will feature light refreshments and attendees will learn about the importance and controversy of the region's sheep heritage and the people who lived it. A Panel Discussion at 2pm in the museum's Event Shed in the Pioneer Village. This local panel will reminisce and share stories of the sheep heritage of the area and what it was like to grow up in sheep country. The museum will be open free to the public all day.
As an independent, nonprofit community museum, we love being able to showcase local history like this. We've worked hard creating the exhibit ourselves, we can't bring in expensive exhibit designers. It's a labor of love we hope connects deeply with local visitors as well as our guests from across the country and the world.
The museum has a full schedule of special events including free public programs, guest speakers, concerts, family movie nights and more. On September 12 they will host "Wooly West Fest" in the Pioneer Village.

The Music in the Mountains Community Student Concert takes place at 4PM on Saturday, May 2nd, in the Roshong Recital Hall at Fort Lewis College.No tickets or RSVP are necessary; a reception will follow.
Nearly 30 students will be performing, ranging in all ages and across a wide variety of instruments.
