Unspun Tales: Sheep in San Juan County - New Exhibit Opening & Season Kickoff Event with Panel Discussion
The Aztec Museum & Pioneer Village kicks off its 62nd season at 2PM on Saturday, May 2nd, with a new exhibit, "Unspun Tales: Sheep in San Juan County." This free event will feature light refreshments and attendees will learn about the importance and controversy of the region's sheep heritage and the people who lived it.
Aztecmuseum.org has more information.
A Panel Discussion at 2pm in the museum's Event Shed in the Pioneer Village. This local panel will reminisce and share stories of the sheep heritage of the area and what it was like to grow up in sheep country. The museum will be open free to the public all day.
As an independent, nonprofit community museum, we love being able to showcase local history like this. We've worked hard creating the exhibit ourselves, we can't bring in expensive exhibit designers. It's a labor of love we hope connects deeply with local visitors as well as our guests from across the country and the world.
The museum has a full schedule of special events including free public programs, guest speakers, concerts, family movie nights and more. On September 12 they will host "Wooly West Fest" in the Pioneer Village.
For information, call 505-334-9829 and please follow us on Facebook. For the 2pm program, we recommend parking in the municipal lot behind the Pioneer Village and entering through the west off Park Avenue by the Splash Pad.
