As a young man, Matthew received guidance and wisdom while spending time with his grandfather, Eddie Box senior. Eddie Box senior, also known as Red Ute, was a spiritual leader for the Southern Ute Tribe, and he led Sun Dance and Bear Dance ceremonies for many years.

In this excerpt, Matthew Box recalls one mind-opening conversation he had with his grandfather.

Matthew Box is Bear Dance Chief of the Southern Ute Tribe. He lives in Ignacio, Colorado.
