Volunteering at Chimney Rock National Monument is a meaningful way to connect with history, community, and the surrounding landscape. Learn how you can help preserve this sacred place for future generations. Whether your passion is history, education, nature, or community, there’s a place for you at Chimney Rock.

The public is invited to a Durango Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 18th. The Procession of the Species parade starts at 10:30 on Main Avenue, and the Celebration starts at 11AM at Buckley Park, featuring live music from Afrobeatniks, vendors, kids activities, workshops and more. Free transit is provided all day by the City of Durango. More information is at earthdaydurango.com.

Equality Pagosa hosts a "Stand Up Saturday" event from noon until 2PM every week in the public parking lot next to the Ruby Sisson Library.

Everyone is invited to exercise their 1st Amendment rights at these gatherings.

How it works: B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Book) or grab something new off the shelf and read alongside other readers! There are no assigned readings. All book genres and formats are welcome.

The Montezuma Orchard Restoration Project will host an apple grafting workshop on Saturday, April 18th from 1 to 3 PM at their Orchard Hub in Dolores. Details and registration are at montezumaorchard.org.

Theater Ensemble Arts presents The Odd Couple Female Version by Neil Simon. Unger and Madison are at it again! Olive invites Florence to move in following a breakup. But they have VERY different personalities. When Olive organizes a double date with the Costazuela brothers, their differences come to a head and sparks fly.

Maria’s Literary Foundation's Second Annual Read-a-Thon Fundraiser takes place from April 10th through 20th. Details and sign up are available at mariasbookshop.com.

During the Read-a-Thon, volunteer readers sit and read in the front window of Maria’s Bookshop to raise money for the Literary Foundation’s Reading Room.

• Readers log their time read over the course of the Read-a-Thon, including their window shift.
• Readers are encouraged to secure ‘sponsorships’ to raise money for The Reading Room.
• Donors may sponsor individual readers or donate in support of all readers
• Maria’s Bookshop will match all donations
• Special prizes (a Year of Books!) for our biggest fundraisers and top

Funds from the Maria’s Literary Foundation Read-a-Thon will support:
• The Reading Room (our FREE youth bookshop and reading nook)-- stocking it with great books for kids in Durango and hosting free programming there like writing workshops, book clubs, and more.

All are welcome! Whether you have been knitting and/or crocheting for years or you would like to learn, we are happy to have you and will do our best to help you get started.
