The Durango Education Foundation will host a Back to School Resource Fair on Tuesday, August 26th from 4 to 6:30 at La Plata County Fairgrounds. Growing Spaces' 6th Annual Customer Appreciation Event and Fall Festival takes place on Saturday, September 13th. The public is invited and activities will include a photo booth, tie-dye t-shirts, dried flower arranging, and children’s activities. Growingspaces.com has more information.
The morning session is geared to existing Growing Dome Owners. Paonia Soil Co., the Extension Office, and the Growing Spaces crew will be on hand to answer gardening questions. The afternoon sessions will include a presentation on food preservation from the Archuleta County Extension Office. Admission is free.
Aztec Ruins National Monument will host the 2025 Indigenous Cultural Arts Festival from 10 until 4 on Saturday, September 13th. This free, family-friendly event will feature diverse artists from various Southwest nations, offering pottery, jewelry, basketry, and more. The day will also include dancing and storytelling, along with cooking demonstrations.
The MaaTuu Dance Group of Santa Clara Pueblo, World Hoop Dance Champion JaiP’o Harvier of the Pueblo of Pojoaque, and the Next Generation Dance Group of Acoma Pueblo will perform. Storyteller Eldrena Douma, of Hopi, Laguna, and Tewa Pueblos will share stories in the great kiva. There will be a cooking demonstration by author of The Modern Navajo Kitchen, Alana Yazzie, of the Navajo Nation.
This event is supported by the Western National Parks Association, a nonprofit education partner of the National Park Service.

The 5th Annual Durango Natural Foods Harvest Fest takes place from 3 until 8 on Saturday, September 13th at Rotary Park, featuring live music by Mojobirds, a community meal, local vendors, kids activities and more.
