Chimney Rock National Monument will host a viewing of the Major Lunar Standstill astronomical event on Saturday, October 11th.Events will include talks on astronomy, archaeology, and Native culture, Native American music, stargazing with telescopes, and a live-streamed view of the Moon rising between the pinnacles. Entry begins at 8:30PM.Reservations are required. Chimneyrockco.org has tickets and details.
The Moon dramatically rises between Companion Rock and Chimney Rock, a phenomenon the Ancient Puebloans likely built ceremonial sites to observe over a thousand years ago.Check-in: 8:30–9:15 PM at the Visitor CenterPresentations begin: 9:30 PMLive-streamed moonrise: 10:20 PMTickets: $25 adults, $12 ages 5–12, free under 5. Reservations required through Recreation.gov (877-444-6777). Seating is limited; reservations close 12 hours before. Walk-ins only if space allows.

Workout using your own body weight or light hand weights to work all the body parts! The free classes are always similar in style but always different moves to keep it fun and fresh. You’ll need a yoga mat & light hand weights. If you don’t have them, they are extras that can be used. Each class is around 35 min. long. Modifications are always available. It’s always a fun, upbeat, encouraging, and a great workout. Taught by Tammy Williams, certified fitness instructor. All ages and fitness levels are welcome! The Great House Tour goes to the top of the mesa ridge for a 360-degree panoramic view of the landscape and a close-up of the two pinnacles with stops along the way to learn about the ancient Puebloan structures.
