Chimney Rock National Monument presents a "Tour of the Night Sky" Program, focuses on the Ancient Puebloans who once studied the night skies, along with interactive talks about the life cycle of a star, categories of galaxies, telescopes and other topics.

John Cross and the New Relics bring their "Good Time Rock and Roll"
back to the historic El Rancho tavern. All around great time and dancing.

Join SJMA and the Durango Astronomical Society for our second year of summer star party series located at SJMA’s Durango Nature Center!

All are welcome, amateur astronomers and enthusiasts alike, for a family friendly event discussing and observing our night skies – the moon, planets, star clusters, galaxies, and nebulas. Just before sunset, an expert from the Durango Astronomical Society will lead discussions on what we will be seeing that evening, providing informative backstories and fascinating fun facts about the night sky we see everyday. Each summer month will have slightly different focuses depending on that month’s night sky. All discussions will end with open telescope viewings and Q&A sessions. Don’t miss out on these memorable experiences!

The Good Food Collective and Durango Tool Library have teamed up to help with local fruit harvesting, to reduce human-bear conflict, eliminate food waste, and directly address food security.

The 7th International Mountain Medicine Symposium takes place in Silverton, starting Wednesday, September 17th. It will feature seminars on state of the art medical education, alpine rescue and high end avalanche awareness. A rope rescue course will be offered the preceding Thursday and Friday. mountainmedicinesymposium.org has registration and details.

Alternative Horizons is in need of volunteers to help in their mission of supporting survivors of domestic violence.
Volunteers receive comprehensive training, plus ongoing staff support.
