On the 15th of every month at 3pm, we host a live virtual tour on Zoom to learn about Heartwood, see our beautiful little slice of paradise, meet community members, and have your questions answered – all without having to actually make a trip to Heartwood.

Heartwood Cohousing 4th Friday Potluck
4th Friday Potlucks are a great way to meet the folks who live at Heartwood and get a sense of the community. A Death Café is a group directed discussion of death; it is not a grief support group. The Death Café offers an accessible, respectful and confidential space where strangers gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. Death Cafés are open to, and respectful of, people of all communities and belief systems. The model was developed by Jon Underwood and Sue Barsky Reid, based on the ideas of Bernard Crettaz. To find out more visit: deathcafe.com. Your facilitator, Lola Montano, has been hosting the Bayfield Death Café since October 2021. Lola is a hospice nurse at Mercy Hospice House, and a trained death doula. Lola volunteers for hospice and the NODA (No One Dies Alone) program at the hospital. She is passionate about demystifying death, in order to help people prepare for the end.

The Ignacio Community Church's Clothing Closet will provide free clothing, jackets and shoes to the needy every Tuesday and Friday from 10 until 2 at the ELHI Community Center.

English-Spanish Conversation Hour – First Mondays at the Animas Valley Grange
The Animas Valley Grange will host English and Spanish Conversation Hour the first Monday of every month from 5:00-6:30 pm. Our next meeting will be Feb. 3. All levels of proficiency are welcome. We will dividie our time between speaking English and Spanish. There is a separate room for children to play games. Free and open to the public. The Animas Valley Grange is located at 7271 County Road 203, about 1 mi. north of Durango Hot Springs.
