These candidates will share their thoughts on fully funding education, reducing healthcare costs (while fighting to keep essential services available to rural Coloradans), supporting our agricultural producers and protecting Colorado’s water. Additionally they will addrress combating climate change, and improving the earnings potential for the hard working people of SW Colorado.
Vivian Smotherman, a FLC graduate, brings strong career leadership experience with an insider’s perspectives on energy and agriculture. She faces incumbent Sen. Simpson of Alamosa in the general election.
Katie, a fourth generation Durangoan, is currently serving her second term on the Durango 9-R Board of Education. She is running for retiring Barbara McLachlan's seat, and like Barbara will be a strong advocate for public education in the general assembly.
Ellen Angeles, a school teacher for 2 decades, is dedicated to fully supporting a robust school system. Ellen worked on a ballot initiative to build the Montrose Recreation Center, a mil-levy to fund Montrose library, and a Best Grant for Columbine Middle school.
