The Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College will host an interactive workshop exploring connections between sound, music, and the land with Diné musician, Kino Benally at 6:30 on Thursday, November 6th.
Each participant will contribute a unique sound, which Kino will record and mix into a collaborative song created during the workshop.
Attendees are encouraged to bring an instrument, or any objects that create sound!
Kino Benally is a Diné musician, producer, sound engineer and artist from Shiprock, New Mexico. His work prioritizes collaborating with indigenous peoples and strengthening contemporary indigenous voices.
Join us for a relaxing evening of Kirtan or Sanskrit chanting. Singing these simple and lovely mantras will quickly quiet your mind and relax your heart bringing a feeling of rejuvenation, presence and clarity. For all levels of experience. Free to the public. This will be our last kirtan in 2025 and we will start up again in April of 2026.
The public is invited to the Mancos Public Library for the talk "A Cowgirl's Conservation Journey" By Heidi Redd. The event takes place at at 6:30 on Thursday, November 6th.

The Durango Independent Film Festival presents the "Best of Fest" screening, featuring award-winning short films from this year's film festival.The event takes place at the Durango Arts Center at 7PM on Thursday, November 6th. Tickets are available at durangofilm.org and at the door.
The Lifelong Learning series at Fort Lewis College continues at 7PM on Thursday, in room 130, Noble Hall. This week's topic is "Bootleg: Dylan, Hendrix, and the Holy Grail." More information is at fortlewis.edu/LLL.

Workout using your own body weight or light hand weights to work all the body parts! The free classes are always similar in style but always different moves to keep it fun and fresh. You’ll need a yoga mat & light hand weights. If you don’t have them, they are extras that can be used. Each class is around 35 min. long. Modifications are always available. It’s always a fun, upbeat, encouraging, and a great workout. Taught by Tammy Williams, certified fitness instructor. All ages and fitness levels are welcome! The public may honor the lives of military veterans at Durango's Greenmount Cemetery by purchasing a wreath at bluestarmomsofdurango.org. The deadline to purchase a wreath is Friday, November 28, for placement in December.

The Friends of the Durango Public Library will hold their Fall Book Sale on Friday and Saturday (November 7 and 8) from 10 to 4 each day.
A variety of books will be for sale, including vintage, collectible, fiction, non-fiction, cookbooks, children's books, coffee table books, and CDs galore!
Cash and checks will be accepted, as well as credit cards for purchases of $5.00 or more.
Friends of the Library (FOL) memberships will be available at the door ($10.00 for one year) and members may enter early at 9:30 AM.
