The Four Corners Gem and Mineral Show has issued a Call For Volunteers.The event takes place at La Plata County Fairgrounds from July 11th through the 13th.More information is at durangorocks.org.
This event relies on local volunteers to make it happen. Volunteering for at least 1 shift will grant you free access to the show for all three days.
The Chimney Rock National Monument "Through the Ages" Tour explores the natural and cultural history of the area through geologic time and incorporates the anthropology and archeology of the Puebloan people.Tours take place at 8AM on Saturday: June 14, 21, 28Tickets are available at chimneyrockco.org.

A Homebuyer Education Class takes place at Fort Lewis College from 8:30 until 4:30 on Saturday, June 14th.

Community Family Yoga
Durango’s first Beaver Festival takes place on Saturday, June 14th,at Rotary Park, from 10 until 3. This free, family-friendly celebration will include live music from Niceness, plus Celtic tunes and a contra dance.Activities include a Beaver Scavenger Hunt for kids, Hands-on exhibits & a life-size beaver lodge play area along with talks on ecology, water, and riparian habitat restoration.
This year’s theme: “When We Partner With Nature, Everyone Wins.”Hosted by Give A Dam, this one-of-a-kind event will bring together restoration practitioners, scientists, artists, educators, and the community — to learn how beavers are helping us restore watersheds, fight drought, prevent wildfires, and bring back biodiversity.
Be part of the interactive Beaver Theater, where you can dress as a wetland creature and act out the story of the beaver’s role in our ecosystems. Costumes encouraged.
Come honor the waters, connect with the community, and celebrate the wild wisdom of beavers.
Stillwater Music will host an all-ages Mandolin workshop for players of all levels who want to play in a full mandolin orchestra. Any related instrument is welcome (mandolin, mandola, octave mandolin/bouzouki, mandocello). SATURDAY & SUNDAY FROM 10AM-1PM. (6/14 & 15)The event culminates in a performance on Sunday at 12:30. The Great House Tour goes to the top of the mesa ridge for a 360-degree panoramic view of the landscape and a close-up of the two pinnacles with stops along the way to learn about the ancient Puebloan structures.
