Navajo artist, Bilson Kee, and his 6 year old daughter, Bailey, will be in the gallery demonstrating creation of their sandpainting art. Bilson will have a broad selection of new paintings on display. Live music, food and refreshments throughout the evening.
Create Art and Tea is now hosting First Friday. First Friday is an effort to bring art and charitable foundations together. On the First Friday of every month, Create Art and Tea will host an art opening featuring new artists. Featured artists will choose a charity to support. A portion of the proceeds made from purchased art will go to the organization of choice. On opening night, you can expect light refreshments, live musical performances, the opportunity to meet the artists, and hear about the charitable organizations. The works for sale will remain in the loft area of the gallery for the remaining duration of each month. Welcome Spring at The ArtRoom Collective!
Join us in April for a creative evening with Emily Lloyd of Violet Mae Upholstery. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., Emily will guide guests in crafting their own beautiful, easy paper flowers — a perfect way to welcome the season. There’s no cost to participate, though donations to help cover materials are warmly appreciated. Our ArtRoom Artist Social takes place every First Friday at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome to gather, connect, laugh, and be inspired. The Animas Museum and the Southwest Colorado Humanities Roundtable present a fundraising train trip to Cascade Canyon on Tuesday, April 21st. The trip includes a visit to the Tacoma Power Plant, along with talks on the railroad and regional history. Limited seats are available and details are at swcohumanities.org.
The train departs downtown Durango at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21st, and returns at 2:30 p.m. Onboard, local historian Charles DiFerdinando will share insights. Tickets are $100 with space limited to 42 people.

Applications are now open for the 32nd Durango Autumn Arts Festival presented by the Durango Arts Center, on September 19th & 20th. The application deadline is May 1st, and details are at durango arts.org.
This juried show serves as the DAC’s signature fundraising event, and there is a $50 nonrefundable application fee.
