Art classes for adults and youth continue at the Durango Arts Center in comic book creation, stained glass, adult portrait painting, figure drawing, pottery and more. Details and registration are at durangoarts.org.
On Sunday, August 24, Aztec Ruins National Monument will offer a Ranger-led tour of the Aztec East great house, a mostly unexcavated area that is normally closed to the public. Attendance is limited and registration is at 505-334-6174.
The tour is limited to the first 15 participants who sign up. The program will begin at 9:30am at the Visitor Center, and last approximately 1 – 1 ½ hours. Participants should arrive 5-10 minutes before the program start time.
Participants will be walking about ½ mile on uneven dirt and woodchip surfaces during the tour. The trail is not wheelchair accessible. We recommend sturdy walking shoes, plenty of water, and sun protection. Food and beverages other than water are not allowed on this trail. Pets are not allowed on this trail. Participants should be at least 9 years old.

This unique, free, self-guided tour allows local artists to showcase their talents and invites the public into the creative spaces where their art comes to life in our community.
The Great House Tour goes to the top of the mesa ridge for a 360-degree panoramic view of the landscape and a close-up of the two pinnacles with stops along the way to learn about the ancient Puebloan structures.

The Durango Arts Center’s gallery exhibit "Balance," by the Studio ART Quilt Associates continues through August 30, 2025 from Noon – 6:00 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. This free event has a collection of art quilts from Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah quilt artists.
