We hope to build a community of crafters and volunteers who can support each other through promoting and working with wool and fiber animal breeders. We are eager to introduce farming and crafting knowledge to children, our future stewards of the earth. We invite the public to enjoy the festive Yaktivities being offered!
CO Member ranches from USYaks will demonstrate yak handling techniques throughout the day. We will trek and pack yaks on lake trails to and from The Big Corral near Vallecito Lake. Members at our educational booth will be available to answer questions about breeding yaks, our investment in yak DNA research and yak fiber studies. *Yaks will be available to the public for petting and pictures.
The Southwest Fiber Alliance will talk about fiber breed animals in our area, benefits of each type of wool and how to use pelletizing machines to manage waste wool and turn it into a beneficial product for gardening and field management during water crisis.
