BLACKFIRE, SILENCE IS A WEAPON, FEATURE CD, 2/12

Tune in this Friday, February 12, 2016 12PM (MST) for this weeks Feature CD, Blackfire, Silence is a Weapon. 

Blackfire was formed in 1989 by  Jeneda, Klee, and Clayson Benally, three siblings.  They were born in Black Mesa on the Navajo Nation.

In 1994, the released 5 songs that became their debut album released on their label Tacoho Production.  Four years later in 1998, they released three more songs, this time producing it on their own.  In 1999, they received a NAMA nomination for Best Independent Release.   Their first album, One Nation Under, was developed in 2002.  In 2003, Woody Guthrie Singles, and won NAMA of the year as well.  Beyond Warped, Live Music series CD/DVD in 2005.  Their last album Silence is a Weapon as "Blackfire" was released in 2007.  Silence is a Weapon was nominated for 5 Native American Music Awards.

Silence is a Weapon, is a very energetic  album you will hear their Highly Energy Political Driven Punk Rock in their "alter Native" attitude.  Some songs are sang in Navajo, keeping their traditional ways.
