Southern Ute Tribal Council tours new KSUT studios

Lindsay Box

For close to 5 years, the staff and Board of Directors of KSUT have been on a capital campaign mission to turn their dream of a new facility into reality. After years of hard work and dedication, that dream is just weeks away from coming to fruition.

Council Members Marjorie Barry, Lorelei Cloud, Ramona Y. Eagle, and Bruce Valdez toured the new home, the KSUT Eddie Box, Jr. Media Center last Wednesday. The Southern Ute Indian Tribe is the largest donor, contributing a $1 million dollar match. The campaign would not have been successful without the additional 700 equally important donors.

"There is no other model like it in the country, where a Tribe has started a radio station and allowed for it to grow on its own while staying true to its roots," stated Tami Graham Executive Director of KSUT.

The recently renovated facility has undergone a major upgrade to include only the best technology to be sure no major projects would be required for years to come. Every office has a toggle installed which allows staff to change from KSUT Tribal Radio to KSUT Public Radio at the move of a button, as well as control volume.

The Tribal Council Members in attendance were in awe of the beautiful new space. Each member shared their congratulations on this grand accomplishment and also thanked the KSUT Board of Directors and staff present for their perseverance, effort, and passion.
