Alt.Latino and All Songs Considered Join KSUT Friday Night Lineup

New half-hour NPR shows spotlight alternative Latin music and new “below the radar” releases. Also, Sounds From the Mother Road moves up to 10pm Wednesdays.

KSUT is introducing two new half-hour-long programs to Friday nights. Alt.Latino will air at 10:00 p.m., and All Songs Considered at 10:30 p.m. Both programs are also popular podcasts produced by NPR Music. They replace The Brazilian Hour, which is being dropped.

And, on Wednesday nights, the Americana music program Sounds From the Mother Road moves up to 9:00 p.m. from 11:00 p.m., and Folk Alley shifts to the 10:00 p.m. to midnight slot.

See KSUT's Programming Schedule Grid.

Here's more information on the programs, with descriptions provided by each show:

Alt.Latino (Friday nights at 10:00 p.m.) - Each week the show introduces listeners to new alternative Latin music, including diverse genres such as cumbia, Mexican garage rock, Panamanian rap, heavy metal mariachi and many more boundary-blurring sounds from around the world. Hosts Felix Contreras and Jasmine Garsd are heard frequently on NPR news magazine shows such as All Things Considered and Weekend Edition, where they speak to millions of listeners about the latest in Latin alternative music and the experiences of Latinos in the United States and abroad through music.

All Songs Considered (Friday nights at 10:30 p.m.) - NPR's guide to discovering new music below the radar. Every week, host Bob Boilen and producer Robin Hilton go through hundreds of new CDs to find sneak previews of music that's worth getting excited about. It could be the latest Swedish pop band, or a hip-hop artist going ambient, or a singer-songwriter with a twisted new take on love. All Songs Considered started in 2000 as an online show after receiving countless letters from listeners who wanted to know more about the music played between stories on All Things Considered.

Sounds From the Mother Road (Wednesday nights at 9:00 p.m.) - A weekly exploration of 70 years of American Roots music, including Classic Country, Western Swing, Rockabilly, Cowboy Tunes, and more. Host Jamie Hoover is well known to public radio listeners in the Four Corners, and has had a long-time relationship with KSUT.
