KD, as he's known to friends, is the world's best-selling artist of call-and-response chant. He'll drop by the KSUT studios Tuesday afternoon for a conversation and short performance.

Krishna Das has many accomplishments. He traveled to India in 1970, where he studied Bhakti Yoga, the Yoga of Devotion. He has released more than a dozen albums of Western chant, including Live Ananda (2012), which was nominated for a Grammy in the Best New Age Album category. He also performed at the Grammys in 2013.

Krishna Das also co-founded Triloka Records, a world music label that released recordings from a variety of artists.

In addition to singing, Krishna Das plays a harmonium, and is often accompanied by tablas and other instruments, even including drum kits. He's become associated with several notable artists, including Sting, who appeared on one album; Walter Becker of Steely Dan, who plays on and co-produced KD's 2010 album All One; jazz bassist Mark Egan; and Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen.

Hear an interview and performance with Krishna Das live on KSUT, tomorrow afternoon at 3:06.

He will also play at Durango's Miller Middle School Auditorium, 2608 Junction St., that evening, at 7:30. The show is a benefit for Tara Mandala.
