The Great House Tour goes to the top of the mesa ridge for a 360-degree panoramic view of the landscape and a close-up of the two pinnacles with stops along the way to learn about the ancient Puebloan structures.

Durango resident, Doris Allen, will have her debut art exhibit at Turquoise Raven Art Gallery in Cortez, CO. The exhibit will start Friday, Oct. 3 through Friday, Oct. 31st. "Casas del Alma' is a collection of collage, mixed media and non-representational art. Doris' Colombian roots influence her work as well as her background in architecture and design. Vivid colors and impeccable design shine through all of her art.
The Durango Arts Center presents “Nature’s Tapestry in Plein Air” through October 25, 2025 in the Barbara Conrad Gallery. 44 works by local artists are on exhibit along with 10 entries from the Quick Draw competition. The community is invited to celebrate the launch of the City of Durango Native American Heritage Month at the Center for Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College. Events start at 4PM on Friday, October 10th with art, food, and family-friendly activities.
Kick off the evening with a guided tour of From the Fringes: Diné Textiles that Disrupt, a powerful exhibition exploring the legacy of Diné (Navajo) weaving—from historic pieces to bold, contemporary works that challenge norms and honor cultural resilience, led by a Southwest Studies Fellow.
Enjoy creative, hands-on youth activities inspired by Diné weaving, and sample Indigenous cuisine served by the Big Picture Native American Club, featuring dishes from New Native Kitchen by Freddie Bitsoie, former executive chef at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian.

The Animas Museum in Durango will host a Family Day in conjunction with the Ute Knowledge exhibit - at 10AM on Saturday, October 11th. Visitors can explore hands-on activities (engineering a stick shelter, creating a beadwork pattern, testing woven materials, and matching plants with their uses) that highlight how Ute people solved problems in the past and still do today.
