Durango Bach Festival
Durango Bach Festival
The Durango Bach Festival has served as a community-wide celebration of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). Now proudly presented by the San Juan Symphony, the Bach Festival promises a blend of Baroque music and ensemble combinations, from solos to concertos and the voices of the SJS Chamber Singers.
The midday Bach's Lunch Concerts are once again the cornerstone of the Festival. Over the course of the week, audiences at St. Mark's will be treated to performances by keyboard players, organists, vocalists, string players, and woodwinds in the music of J.S. Bach, C.P.E Bach, Wilhelm Friedman Bach, and Bach's incredible contemporary, George Philippe Telemann. The lunches will feature catering by Manna Soup Kitchen, which makes the concerts a multi-sensory experience and a wonderful opportunity to gather as a community for musical fellowship. There will be a pair of free lectures called "The Stations of Bach" following lunch on the Tuesday and Thursday of the festival, presented by Daniel Morgenstern and Kyle Osborne.
