Event Description

If you are a backyard or community gardener, you’re probably familiar with the “zucchini problem”. At some point during the summer, you will end up with far more zucchini, tomatoes, carrots and other veggies than you can possibly eat. Your local fruit & veggies gleaners, The Good Food Collective, have teamed up with Fresh Food Connect to solve this problem! If you sign up at www.FreshFoodConnect.org you can donate your extra produce with just a click of a button. All you have to do is make an account and you will be able to indicate when you have excess produce. Put those extra veggies on your front porch and one of The Good Food Collective’s employees will come by and pick it up on an Electric Tricycle and donate it to Manna Soup Kitchen, 9R School District, or another emergency food distributor. Voila! Problem solved -- you get to get rid of your excess zucchini AND assist in helping to close the hunger gap here in La Plata County. More information can be found at www.goodfoodcollective.org or by contacting Rachel at rachel@goodfoodcollective.org or (970) 403-5347
