One of the things learned in any teaching hospital is an argot -- the private language used behind the scenes. Linda and Noah read entries from the glossary of medical slang prepared by the writers of the TV program "ER."
Art historian and curator MARK ROSENTHAL
2: Art historian and curator MARK ROSENTHAL. He is curator of the new exhibition "Abstraction in the Twentieth Century: Total Risk, Freedom, Discipline" at the Guggenheim Museum in New York (Feb 9 - May 12). There's also a companion book to the exhibition, same title, published by Guggenheim. ROSENTHAL is Curator of Twentieth Century at the National Gallary of Art, Washington D.C. and formerly Consultative Curator at the Solomon R. Guggeheim Museum.

NPR's Phillip Davis looks at the struggle over a valuable part of the broadcast spectrum. The TV industry wants the part that could be used for new digital television broadcasts to be assigned to them free-of-charge. The government is considering making companies buy the right to use that slice of the public airwaves.

a three-week recess; but, since it is an election year, not much is expected to be accomplished between now and October when members of Congress return home to campaign.

Noah talks with Miami Herald columnist Liz Balmaseda about Brothers to the Rescue, the Cuban exile organization whose airplanes were shot down by Cuban warplanes last Saturday, sparking an international incident. Havana, justifying the dowing of the planes over Cuban territorial waters, charges Brothers to the Rescue is a terrorist organization. Balmaseda disagrees.
AT&T And The Internet
One more step into turning the telephone line into a multi-media communications channel. AT&T announced yesterday that it will soon be offering its 90 million customers five hours of free access to the Internet every month for one year. It's estimated that more than 15 million of the company's subscribers already own computers and modems.

Tovia Smith Reports A Group Of African-Americans In Southern New Hampshire
have formed a support group to share their tales of what it's like to live in an overseemingly white region. Blacks make up only one percent of New Hampshire's population. and that is over half the state's minority population.
