The San Juan County-based nonprofit Bears Ears Partnership will host the Celebrate Bears Ears event from March 6th through 8th in Bluff, Utah, featuring keynote speaker Joy Harjo, the first Native American US Poet Laureate. On the evening of Friday, March 6, BEP will be hosting a VIP Fundraiser Dinner at Twin Rocks Cafe, offering a silent auction of unique experiences of the region and a locally inspired menu.
Sunday, March 8 will feature guided tours of BEP’s new campus at Canyon Country Discovery Center in Monticello, Utah, and information about BEP’s expanding programming, which includes the Canyon Country Youth Corps and its new River Program, and future plans.
Students can attend Saturday’s programs for a discounted ticket price.
The 2026 Durango Independent Film Festival takes place from Wednesday, March 4th through Sunday, March 8th, with screenings at the Arts Center and Gaslight Cinema.Passes and details are available at Durangofilm.org.

Community Family Yoga
The McDonald’s Cardboard Derby returns to Purgatory Resort on March 7 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Participants are invited to design and build a derby racer using only cardboard and duct tape, then pilot their creation down the slopes during this classic winter competition.
Registration is limited to 30 participants and is expected to fill quickly. The entry fee is $22.20 (including a $2.20 fee). Pricing increases after February 28, 2026 at 11:59 PM MST. Advance registration is required.
The Montezuma Orchard Restoration Project will host a hands-on pruning workshop at the Cortez Middle School from 10 until noon on Saturday, March 7th.Details and registration are at montezumaorchard.org.
The middle school Orchard was founded in 2013 in partnership with the Montezuma School to Farm Project.
Equality Pagosa hosts a "Stand Up Saturday" event from noon until 2PM every week in the public parking lot next to the Ruby Sisson Library.

The Tibetan Buddhism Practice Group meets every Saturday to share guided meditations on compassion. No experience needed, all are welcome.
Mixed in Mancos 2026 will take place on Saturday, March 7th and feature the bands Mean Irene at 6:00pm, Stillhouse Junkies at 7:30pm and Genuine Cowhide at 9:00pm.
Mixed in Mancos is an annual celebration of local music presented by the Mancos Creative District. This event will be recorded, and a live album will be released on CD and vinyl.
The Durango Betties, Durango’s adult women’s hockey team, will face off against the Durango Area Youth Hockey Girls Team in the 2nd annual Women’s Hockey Classic game at 5PM on Saturday, March 7th to raise funds to grow the youth program. The event takes place at the Chapman Hill Ice Rink and tickets will be available at the door.
Team sports, like hockey, provide more than just physical activity. They teach resilience, teamwork, confidence, and leadership — skills that extend far beyond the rink and into every aspect of life. When you empower a girl through sport, you empower her for life. Girls who play team sports are: ● More likely to graduate and pursue higher education. ● More confident in leadership roles and professional settings. ● More resilient in facing life’s challenges.
