  • The United Nations is reporting that perhaps as many as four thousand Rwandans have been killed at a refugee camp. Daniel talks with New York Times reporter Donatella Lorch who was at the Kibeho refugee camp when the Rwandan Army started shooting into a crowd of stampeding refugees.
  • DEAN KAHLER (KAY-ler), wounded in the Kent State University shootings. 25 years ago today the Ohio National Guard fired into a crowd of students at Kent State University demonstrating over raids into Cambodia. Four students were killed and nine were injured in the shooting. The National Guard and Governor of Ohio (who ordered the Guard's presence) were exonerated of any responsibility for the shooting. KAHLER was the only survivor to be paralyzed. He is currently a substitute teacher still living in Ohio.
  • Actor ANDRE BRAUGHER (rhymes with "flower"). In the NBC series, "Homicide," he plays the shaved-headed Detective Frank Pembleton, a man described as "eloquent but icy."   • 2: Former Congressman TIMOTHY J. PENNY was in Congress for twelve years. He's just written a new book about the cultures that modern lawmakers bring to Congress which he says "have gnawed away at the sturdy foundations of republican democracy and trustworthy service that our Founding Fathers bequeathed." PENNY's new book is Common Cents (Little, Brown & Co.) which he wrote with journalist Major Garrett. PENNY is now spokesperson for the Concord Coalition, a bipartisan coalition that promotes fiscal responsibility and deficit reduction.
  • NPR's Peter Kenyon reports on the latest in the investigation of the bombing last week in Oklahoma city. Authorities are pursuing leads across the country in an effort to find the suspect John Doe #2 and any others with potential links to the blast.
