FLC Symphonic Band Concert "Belonging To..."

FLC Symphonic Band Concert "Belonging To..."

The Fort Lewis College Symphonic Band presents the concert "Belonging To..." at 7PM on Thursday, April 18th at the Community Concert Hall. FLC students and those under 18 receive free admission.

This performance focuses on encouraging belonging at our concerts and in the arts for those who are in some way, as one aspect of their identity, a part of the LGBTQ+ community. Some works are inspired by important events, people, or milestones, such as the 1969 Stonewall Riots, Marsha Johnson, and the landmark supreme court case that granted federal marriage equality for all couples. Others are inspired by science and space, using creative percussion submerged in water and pitched wine glasses to simulate melting diamonds. Some are simply quality works of art that are pleasing to the ear. Regardless, each piece on this concert was composed by someone who, as one part of their larger identity, is in some way a part of the LGBTQ+ community.
