The Ute Indian Museum in Montrose opened a new exhibit in September featuring the work of artist and activist Gregg Deal.

Deal is a member of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe and was Native Arts Artist-in-Residence at the Denver Art Museum in 2015-2016.

His new exhibit, "Merciless Indian Savages" is a provocative show. He calls it an Indigenous exploration of what American democracy means for Indian Country. The show will be up through January.

Rocky Mountain Community Radio member station KVNF in Montrose talked to Deal about his work.
