David Feela On Writing, Ideas, and Inspiration

Durango Telegraph columnist a keen observer of life in the Four Corners.

David Feela's columns cover everything from watches to black bears.

The Montezuma County-based writer is a frequent contributor to the Durango Telegraph, the Four Corners Free Press, and High Country News, among other publications.

He's also a published poet and essayist. His latest book of essays, How Delicate These Arches: Footnotes From the Four Corners, was chosen as a finalist for the Colorado Book Award.

Feela is appearing Tuesday February 9 at the Pine River Library in Bayfield, as part of its Amazing Authors series. The event continues Wednesday evening at the Cortez Public Library, and Thursday at Telluride's Wilkinson Library.

KSUT's Mark Duggan recently spoke to Feela about the writing process, inspiration, and how black bears running across mountain roads provide pretty good material for future columns.
