Since viewing of the Major Lunar Standstill (MLS) is not possible from ground level at the Great House Pueblo, and the fire tower has been removed; the Forest Service and partners have developed opportunities to share the event via other platforms such as live streaming, still photography and/or video recording for 2024-2025.

In conjunction with the USFS, San Juan District, we are happy to offer these exciting MLS events for 2024.

September 24, 2024: A live-stream of the third quarter Moon rising between Chimney Rock and Companion Rock, preceded by stargazing and presentations on astronomy, archaeology, and culture from leading experts.
