Native Braids: Diabetes diagnosis leads to becoming a runner, and a spiritual experience running a race on Hopi land

When Gordon Hammond found out he was diabetic, he decided to take up running. He spoke with his niece, Amie Hammond, about training in the canyons near Towaoc, Colorado, and the spiritual experience he had running a race on the Hopi reservation.

Gordon Hammond is a member of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe.
