The Big Easy 'supergroup' plays Durango Friday night.
The New Orleans Suspects formed in 2009 when the owner of the Big Easy's famed Maple Leaf Bar needed a Wednesday night band. That's apparently the toughest night of the week for performers in New Orleans.
A group of seasoned players met the call. They came from the Neville Brothers, the Radiators, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, the James Brown Band, and others.
Together, they became known first as the 'usual suspects.' That became the New Orleans Suspects.
Today, the band has three recordings under its belt, with a fourth, Kaleidoscoped, set to be released in September.
KSUT spoke with Suspects guitarist Jake Eckert about the genesis of the band, its chemistry, and what fans can expect at this Friday's show.
The New Orleans Suspects play the Durango V.F.W. Friday August 26 at 7:30 p.m.
