Many COVID-related metrics are on the increase in Colorado. We spoke to State Epidemiologist Rachel Herlihy, M.D. to get the latest.

Key takeaways:

  • The Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment reported Wednesday (1/5) that 60 children are hospitalized across Colorado with COVID-19. Last Wednesday it was 25.
  • Some of the child hospitalizations could be for other reasons, but they were COVID-positive at the time of admission.
  • As of Wednesday, the state's positivity rate is 26%, the highest yet recorded in the pandemic. For context, that means that 1-in-4 people in Colorado likely have COVID.

We also reached out to Colorado COVID Incident Commander Scott Bookman to get an update on the shortage of monoclonal antibody treatments.
