A Grim Check-In Of Monthly COVID Case Counts in Colorado, Region

Many health officials believe close contact among people at Halloween caused the current spike in virus cases. They also worry that the same thing will happen after Thanksgiving and Christmas, leading to an uncontrollable surge. Even now, many hospital ICUs are at capacity.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) shared the latest hospitalization data Monday afternoon and the figures are sobering:

  • 1,834 currently hospitalized due to COVID-19
  • 48% adult critical care ventilators in use
  • 79% of intensive care unit (ICU) beds in use
  • 22% available hospital beds occupied by confirmed and suspected COVID cases
