A star-studded line-up of actors has pitched in to help Durango PlayFest bring the arts to people’s homes and to highlight the importance of keeping local theatre alive and thriving through this pandemic. Actor Dan Lauria (The Wonder Years, Lombardi), a long-standing PlayFest supporter and one of the festival’s founders, decided to harness the writing talents of dozens of well-known screen and stage actors to create original vignettes of three to ten minutes each. KSUT's Tami Graham spoke with Lauria about the video series Actors' Journal:
Durango PlayFest will present a video series called Actors’ Journal on its website, with each episode featuring four different actors reading their works. Episodes will be released every three to four weeks throughout the fall.
“Like similar groups nationwide, Durango PlayFest canceled its summer performances due to the coronavirus pandemic,” Lauria said. “I wanted to raise awareness of the plight of organizations like PlayFest while celebrating how actors are keeping their creative juices flowing.”
“We’re thrilled to present this caliber of original writing,” said Terry Bacon, Durango PlayFest Co-Chair. “It’s our way of thanking our patrons for their support during this difficult year.”
