La Plata County has seen over 200 positive COVID-19 cases in the last 5 days. KSUT’s Sarah Flower spoke with Liane Jollon, Executive Director of San Juan Basin Public Health about this increase and how to help slow the spread of the virus.


La Plata County moves to Safer at Home Level 2, effective today, October 26, due to an increase in COVID-19 cases. KSUT’s Sarah Flower speaks with Liane Jollon from San Juan Basin Public Health about what changes need to be made, and how that will help to slow the spread of COVID-19. 


In order to reduce community transmission and slow a rise in cases that threatens our school learning models and our local economy, San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) are moving La Plata County to Safer at Home Level 2 as of Monday, October 26, 2020. 

La Plata and Archuleta Counties are moving into Stage One status of the Safer-at-Home dial established by the State of Colorado. KSUT’s Sarah Flower speaks with Liane Jollon of San Juan Basin Public Health about that distinction and how it affects these counties:

San Juan Basin Public Health is reporting recent cases of individuals testing positive for COVID-19 at local testing sites who are not residents of Archuleta or La Plata counties, and are not counted in the agency’s case counts.

KSUT’s Sarah Flower talks with Executive Director Liane Jollon about how those cases are being reported, the work that public health agencies do for contact tracing, and ongoing prevention efforts.
