A new campaign from the state of Colorado seeks to get residents and visitors to recreate more responsibly on public lands.
The message behind the Care For Colorado campaign centers around “know before you go” and “leave no trace.” According to the state's office of tourism, the campaign was developed along with the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics.
A host of organizations have lined up to promote Care For Colorado. They include Colorado Parks & Wildlife, the National Parks Service, and other public lands agencies; and private organizations like the Colorado Mountain Club and the Colorado River Outfitters Association.
Care For Colorado comes amid a record-breaking year for public lands in Colorado, with visitation up sharply for state and national parks.
