KSUT presents the Dream Warriors, indigenous recording artists working with native youth, performing

KSUT is bringing the "Awakening the Warrior Within" program to Ignacio this week (8/19-23), through a generous grant from the Colorado Health Foundation. The Dream Warriors, indigenous recording and spoken word artists, will be in Ignacio working with up to 15 Native youth, ages 19 and younger. 

The Dream Warriors are a collective of five Indigenous performers; Hip Hop Artist Frank Waln of the Sicangu Lakota Nation; Poet, Hip hop & Singer song writer Lyla June of the Dine/Cheyenne Nation; Hip Hop artist Mic Jordan, Anishinaabe from Turtle Mountain reservation; Hip Hop artist Tall Paul Anishanaabe/Oneida from the Leech Lake reservation & writer, poet and spoken word performer Tanaya Winder of the Southern Ute/Duckwater Shoshone/Pyramid Lake Paiute.

There will be three public performances  in Ignacio and Durango that are all free and suitable for all ages. 

Monday, August 19, 6pm -7:30pm, Ignacio High School Auditorium. Also live on KSUT at 9:15 AM. 

Tuesday, August 20, 4pm -5pm, Inspiration Square at ELHI Community Center in downtown Ignacio.

Friday, August 23rd, The Garage (formerly Ponga’s) in downtown Durango, 8-9:30pm
