Hoots And Hellmouth: A 'Secret' No More

Sean Hoots and Andrew "Hellmouth" Gray first teamed up in early 2005, forming Hoots and Hellmouth shortly thereafter. Joining their acoustic guitars with Rob Berliner's mandolin, they perform "bleeding soul" music, taking their cues from mountain musicians like Roscoe Holcomb and Doc Watson while incorporating a dynamic gospel sound reminiscent of Rev. Gary Davis.

Hoots and Hellmouth's 2007 self-titled debut, recorded with legendary Philadelphia producer Brian McTear, captures the wild intensity of the band's live performances, attracting the attention of audiences and critics alike. Its sophomore album, The Holy Open Secret, just came out.
