It's the time of year when tables and grocery carts are laden with food, and diets go out the window.
But it takes an enormous effort by many to get that food to your store and kitchen.
A recent study found that food supplies are actually quite fragile in the geographically isolated Four Corners.
According to Rachel Landis of the Fort Lewis College Environmental Center, the study found that if food truck routes were cut off, area grocery stores would run out of food within about four days.
Landis said our lack of local food security stems from a combination of expensive farmland, a lack of distribution channels, and the general absence of a local food culture.
